Set Up A Local Group

This is your chance to help shape the society you want to live in. By organizing an IRAS group, you can become part of the future IRAS and join in to create a good society through events, debates, projects, campaigns, group discussions and much more.

People set up local IRAS groups for a variety of reasons, but mainly because they want to make positive contributions to their local area. IRAS groups have a life of their own and are directed by the group and the members themselves.

The average group has regular debates, discussions, projects, attends local issues and links up with other like-minded groups in the area. IRAS groups can be set up via subjects or topics that interest the group members, example, Local Govt Group, Social-Economy Group, Labour Affairs Group, Housing Group and many more.

If we really want to live in a world that is based on democracy, sustainability and equality, then we have to start locally in our communities, in our homes, our workplace and everywhere. IRAS groups provide the space to work together and build new alliances to learn from each other and work together to make a good society a reality.

What makes a successful group?

1) Location,
2) Getting the words out,
3) Initiating your first meeting,
4) Staying organized,
5) Making the most of social media,
6) The bigger picture and other groups.
