Japanese WW2 aggression in Asia: Japan should apologize
We all knew that during the Second World War (WW2) in the Asian continent, the Imperial Japan had aggressively used its military force to conquer many parts of Asia, particularly Korea, Manchuria, some parts of Eastern Russia and largely China. Japan's aggression was later expanded to many parts of Southeast Asia and the Pacific theatre.
During these aggression, the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy were well-known for its atrocities against civilians. The most famous one was marked in the Nanking Massacre in 1937, when the Chinese Nationalist government's capital fell into the hands of the Imperial Japan.
Millions of Chinese civilians, men and women, children, senior citizens, sick people, babies were systematically murdered, women and children were captured, raped and then slaughtered, many cities, counties and homes were torched which caused total destruction of much of China's population.
Asides, the Japanese military aggression and atrocities had also expanded to many other parts of the Asian continent, with the above same tactics and acts of destruction.
After the Japanese surrendered to the Allied Military Command in August 1945, and a new government was installed in Japan (who later renounced their military might via a new passive constitution) and undertook a parliamentary democracy with only civilians running the government since then.
Even so, until today, the Japanese government has refused to recognize its past military aggressions and worst still worked on to revised and changed its history and school text books to deny the existence of its past war crimes eventhough most of the Japanese militarist has been convicted and punished in an international war crimes tribunals. But instead, these Japanese officials had moved on to even say that all those war crimes were never committed by the Imperial Japanese military and those reports were overly reacted by the war victims.
Why, until today, Japan as a new nation, fully developed with its strong economic presence worldwide is still having a government and officials who are still in denial mode? Even the Japanese population had openly admitted that their nation's military had committed war crimes during WW2 and they never deny it at all. If these Japanese people are ready to admit the wrongdoings of their ancestors, apologize and move ahead, why can't the Japanese government and its officials?
Come on! Even the Germans too admitted their past war aggressions in Europe during WW2 and they had apologize to all affected nations, then they carried on and moved forward. The Germans authorities had even banned the nationalist and racist movement in the country. Even Japan had renounced military power, war and embraced a peaceful establishment via its constitution, the nation's government has refused to curb the rise of any nationalist fanatics and the rise of other violent nationalist movements in the country.
The worst part is, most of the Japanese "democratically elected" leaders had continue to visit the controversial Yasukuni Shrine despite worldwide protests on its past military aggression and atrocities. Yasukuni Shrine houses the remains of many of the Imperial Army generals and naval commanders who were convicted war criminals.
Why are these Japanese leaders who considered themselves "developed", "modern" and "matured" has continue to visit and pray for all those war criminals in the Yasukuni Shrine? Didn't they realize that what has been committed by these war criminals were against humanity? Furthermore, they are also denying the fact that many nations around Japan had suffered as the result of Japan's military aggression.
The Japanese people has risen and matured, acknowledged their nation's wrongdoings, but their government is still being too childish and refuse any admission of facts.
