Do not apply two sets of rules in your MCO or else, release all ordinary offenders!
We are gravely disappointed the way the rebel government handle and apply the movement control order (MCO) in this country. As of yesterday evening, there were reports both formal and informal indicating that some ministers, deputy ministers, a menteri besar, exco members, MPs or state assemblymen were seen in official functions with many attendees being invited to their events where food and drinks were also served to all invited guests.
So, we would like to ask members of the rebel government. Just exactly how many sets of rules does your MCO applies to in this country? One for the normal people with harsh punishment onto offenders, while the other is an exemption for VVIPs like you all happily enjoying in your events and function there by showing of your “V” sign to the ordinary people?
If that is so, the rebel government has not been fair towards our people, venting a heavy jail terms to offenders of ordinary background while those in higher caste or with high positions were exempted even though their actions were clearly seen as breaking every rules set in the MCO.
If now you are saying that they are breaking the MCO by organising and attending a crowded function or event, why didn’t you instruct the relevant authorities to act against those VVIP, instead letting it be until angry and dissatisfied citizens brought this up to the press and social medias? Is the police or military going to arrest all these VVIPs i.e. ministers, deputy ministers, a menteri besar, exco members, MPs or state assemblymen were seen in official functions with many attendees being invited? Are these YBs, YAB, Very VVIPs going to be arrested, haul-up to the court and given the heaviest jail sentences like all those ordinary offenders who has to undergo such?
The rebel government must show the general public that they are being fair when enforcing such rules or law. If these YBs, YAB, or Very VVIPs are going to be let off with just a stern warning, we will not accept such. Or else, all those ordinary offenders should be released from their imprisonment at once, if you choose to be lenient to all those YBs, YAB, and Very VVIPs.
If you can publish to the press actions and prison sentences on ordinary MCO offenders, you must ensure that actions and prison sentences against all these YBs, YAB and Very VVIPs are also published in the press and make public known of such.
We hope, the leaders and the members of the rebel government now understand why ordinary people are flauting the MCO rules. It is because those YBs, YAB and Very VVIPs too flauted the MCO themselves, therefore giving the public impression that the MCO can be loosen, as these Extremely Important Politicians can do that, then “why not us?”
The rebel government should only have one option to carry out, only one set of MCO. Or else release all those ordinary (MCO offenders) detainees who are either awaiting court sentencing or have been sentenced to imprisonment.
