Ensure Peaceful Transition
The elections campaigning would stop once the clock struck 12.00 am this midnight. Tomorrow morning, the 13th general elections shall commence nationwide. All voters are urged to come out without fear to vote for whoever in your minds, and should you have made the correct decisions, do not hesitate to put your choice into the ballot boxes. The destiny of this nation of ours is in our hands. We hope, with the choice this time, nation would be able to move forward towards a new dawn.
Whatever outcome it may have after 12.00 am tomorrow then, we hope the political parties or coalition who are on the verge of losing or may lost, would gently accept with open minds the decisions made by our people (the electorates) for the sake of the nation. This is a democratic nation and in general elections, there are those who won and so does those who lost. This is indeed a democracy in practice. The winner gets the chance to govern for a period of 5 years while the loser would take this opportunity to prove themselves via the opposition bench in order to show to the electorate their worth to return to the government bench in 5 years time.
What would happen on 6th May 2013? We are certain that none of us would want anything to happen on that day. All we want is the incumbents should in a "gentlemen's manner" make all necessary arrangements towards a smooth transition to the new government-elect to take their place in order. Unless the incumbents were to refuse to accept our people's mandate and decided to move this nation towards dictatorship by creating political and racial unrest nationwide.
Once again, we would like to seek the assurance from the incumbents to assure our people and the nation that they would not betray the Federal Constitution by tolerating to such negative elements. Can the incumbents give their assurance to our people and the entire nation of their willingness to let go peacefully and take a break?
Then, the entire security apparatus of the government, particularly the police force, the national security council and the armed force. They must remember clearly that their duty and loyalty is to the nation and our people and not to be confused by having have to be loyal to the government. No! Your loyalty lies on the nation and the Federal Constitution. If you are unsure of the situation, then check your oaths and correct your minds before it is too late.
As for the rulers, they also must remember where they should stand and what are their correct attitudes as enshrine in the Federal and State Constitutions. You are all constitutional monarchies and your actions should be of those above politics. Act in accordance to the constitution and not swaying to other side of the political divide. Learn from the Perak constitutional crisis experience. We knew that there are some particular business interests involving the palace and the federal elites, but this time round, you have to support and respect the mandates of our people at large. In such situation, no one is immune or "kebal". We are all human beings and as human beings we are bind to make mistakes but we must also learn from our past mistakes.
For the civil servants at large, we know you all have your democratic rights too, but please bear in mind that as civil servants, your roles and responsibilities must be apolitical and professional. As such, you have the most important role to play in ensuring that the government machinery nationwide continue running as usual and to serve as well to carry out the policies laid down by the government of the day. You must also ensure that during the transition period, all government properties and documentations, as well as its archives remain intact and are in proper order in order to handover to the new government. Do ensure that these records and documents are not being taken away or destroyed by those irresponsible. Like the members of the security apparatus, you too have taken the oath of loyalty to the nation and not to any particular ruling parties.
Therefore, we would like to urge all those who are upholding the Federal and State Constitutions to stand by your positions for our people and the nation, the political parties who had contested, win or lose to abide by the decisions of our people, to accept the reality that our people has demanded, to accept that it is our people's expectation that a particular government should continue or otherwise and to accept the fact that we are living in a parliamentary democratic nation, where democracy is a core political resolution.
